Posting Your Personal Web Site

For information on posting your personal web site click here.

Your web site must already be provisioned by Sonora Communications and you must have already been assigned a username and password as the site administrator.

The standard disk quota is 50MB, which should be fine for most folks using the POP protocol.  You may want more space if you choose to use the IMAP protocol where your message store resides on our mail server.  If you desire more disk space, it is quick and easy to add and very inexpensive.  Please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to request more disk space.

Just use your assigned username and password.  This will be the same as your e-mail username and password if we also host your e-mail.  Only one user per domain name may be configured as the administrator (be able to upload web files).

How to Post (Upload) Your Web Site Files

You need to use the FTP protocol to upload your files.

FTP:          www.your.domain  (something like

Web Folder:   web  (your web site files go here)

Home Page:    index.html  (replace the default)

You  can use most any web page creation tool or FTP tool to post your web site.

I like FileZilla, a free FTP tool and it's available for Windows and Linux.  If you use the Firefox web browser, there is a very cool cross-platform plugin called FireFTP that works great and doesn't require the installation of yet another program on your PC.

For page creation, I like Kompozer, a free page creation tool with upload capability.  It's available for Linux or Windows.

Accessing Your Web Site

http://your.domain or http://www.your.domain

You cannot access your site directly by IP address alone as this is a shared server and relies on your domain name to route requests to the proper web site.

We offer MySQL databases, CGI and PHP upon request.

Please just send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with requests or problems.
